Privacy
On a Lark is a free events calendar for Albany and the Capital District. We collect as little as we can to run and improve it. The site has no ads, and we don't sell information about visitors.
What we collect when you browse
Google Analytics counts visits: which pages are viewed, how people arrive (for example from a search engine or social media), device and browser type, and approximate location at the city level. It uses cookies to do this.
Our own site statistics record how the calendar is used: searches, filters, which events are shown and opened, click-throughs to event websites, and calendar downloads. They're tied to a random ID stored in your browser, not to your name. The same ID powers the Recently viewed list on your device.
Like any website, our server receives your IP address. We use it only briefly to block abuse and don't save it with our site statistics.
If you sign in
Sign-in is handled by Clerk. We keep your email address, name and profile picture (if you have one) so you can save events.
If you contact us
The contact form sends your name (if you give it), email address, reason and message to our inbox through Resend, an email service. We use them only to reply and to fix listings.
To block spam, Cloudflare Turnstile may check that a person is sending the form.
How long we keep it
Our own site statistics are deleted after 90 days. Google Analytics keeps its data for 14 months.
Contact emails stay in our inbox until we delete them. Saved events stay until you remove them or ask us to delete your account.
Who helps us run the site
Replit hosts the site, Neon stores our database, Google Analytics measures visits, Clerk handles sign-in, Resend delivers contact emails, and Cloudflare runs our domain name and spam checks. Each has its own privacy policy.
How Google uses information from sites that use its services
Your choices
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install Google's opt-out add-on to stop Google Analytics.
Clearing this site's data in your browser removes the random ID and your settings.
To have your account or your messages deleted, contact us.
Other websites
Event listings link to venues and organizers. Their websites have their own privacy practices.
Children
On a Lark isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
